A good tip for anyone looking to go and buy their first leather hide from a large Merchant.
The No.1 rule is make sure you have a very very good idea about what you want your leather for, and to do. Otherwise you'll end up buying more than you need and may even come back with nothing you need! but it looks great!
Your checklist could be something like this as a starter:
Is the leather for hand-stitching or machine.
Veg tanned or Chrome tanned.
Can you burnish it.
How thick or thin.
Soft to firm handle.
Then start thinking about colour!
