Service Description

For those green fingers out there and budding horticulturist’s, and weekend gardeners this is the perfect Leather Workshop for you, or as a Gift Certificate. What better feeling than making your very own leather pouch for your special go-to Secateurs, and at the same time learn all about working and making leather goods. There will be a choice of leather types and colours for you to choose, and then you’ll be marking out and cutting your pouch shape from the hide from templates. The Secateur pouch can be made with or without a securing snap closure, and can be fully saddle stitched or a combination of stitching and rivets. The design also includes a leather loop for it to attach to a Belt. You’re also very welcome to bring along your own Secateur to choose the best fitting template to cut from. As with all our Workshops, you’ll be the ‘maker’ cutting and saddle stitching your very own leather item to take home and enjoy for years to come. We’ll discuss the different types of leather tanning processes and you’ll be encouraged to practice cutting etc on off-cuts of leather to build your confidence and you’ll also receive an info pack on where to buy Leathers, Tools and Hardware if you wished to take your new skills forward later at your own pace. No previous leather working experience is required as you’ll be fully guided throughout your workshop with a maximum of two people attending, where you’ll be cutting, marking out and chisel punching your stitching holes, waxing threads, burnishing edges and finally saddle stitching. Everything is provided on the workshop, there are no extra costs. Teas/coffees and biscuits are provided. If you can’t see a date you can attend, at some times during the year we have some flexibility in the booking calendar so just email us with your dates and we’ll see if it’s possible to arrange for you.
