** New Workshop location; Corner Barn, Church Way, Whittlebury, NN12 8XS** Are you thinking of starting your own small leather goods business, or just starting out as a hobby and happy to see where your new skills lead you? My 2 Day Practical Skills Workshop is aimed at beginners interested in gaining a good understanding of the leather working skills & techniques used in making a variety of Small Leather Goods. This course will run once booked and will have only a maximum of 3 students per Course, and the aim over the 7 hours each day is to, save you.... and move you on at least a year of you trying to figure out all of the who, what, where, when, why of working with Leather. You'll be pleased to hear you won't be saddle stitching for 14 hours solid! Over the 2 Days you'll be making 5 items, including two card holders in a glued and non glued construction prior to stitching, a vintage wrap stitch key fob, and a Belt. These small items will show you the different skills/techniques that you can then use or scale up later at your own pace. You'll also cover and practice the following, either in making your items or as separate tasks; Tanned Leather types - assess leather for intended use. How to select and where to buy your leathers. UK Leather Merchants/Finishers/Tanneries. Hand stitched thread types and needles - waxing - saddle stitch and wrap stitch for watch straps etc. Hand cutting tools - Pattern cutting - Formers Small batch production cutting Bevelling - Skiving - Splitting - Creasing - Burnishing Rivet types, Eyelets and Hardware closure options and setting tools. Make a Leather strop. All Belt and Strap cutting hand tools. Hot Foiling Machines (Pros & Cons), for logo's and alphabet initials on Leather goods, or blind debossing. Also logo's on leather using a hydraulic press. Online presence - Webshop options. Bag design, and how to start pattern making. Cancellation Policy

Please read my Micro Craft Business Refund Policy. A full Refund if requested will only be issued anytime up to 14 days prior to your booked Workshop or Course date. This will effectively allow me just 13 days in which to re advertise and try and fill your cancelled and refunded space. If you realise for any reason you cannot attend your Workshop or Course date between the 13 days prior to your booked date, then I will happily work with you to arrange a mutually agreeable date to reschedule your Leather Workshop or Course. Full refunds are only issued prior to 14 days before your Workshop/Course date. Behind the scenes there is a lot of pre preparation, leather and hardware purchasing to enable running my Workshops & Courses for you, which is why I need the 14 days notice.
