Earlier this year we were approached by a wonderful Charity right up our street, Hand in Hand International, who have a particular focus on creating female entrepreneurs.
Hand in Hand International specialises in grassroots entrepreneurship in developing countries, helping those living in poverty to launch enterprises, boost their income and find a sustainable way out of poverty for themselves and their families.
You’ll know at Leather Craft Workshop Days we’re all about learning a new craft… being the maker…. and who knows where you’ll take it…. as a hobbyist or even as a new small business as quite a few are doing. So we were especially happy to donate a place on one of our Crossbody/Messenger Bag Workshops to be auctioned, and last week it happened!
The Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) supports a Charity every year and at this years Gala Dinner held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, Mayfair it was of course, Hand in Hand International.
The Gala Dinner opened with an opening message from HRH the Prince of Wales followed by the eagerly awaited Hand in Hand International Gala auction…. with quest speaker Sir Chris Hoy MBE, what an absolute legend.
The winning bidder on the night pledged £340 for our Workshop place, thank you very very much for your donation on the night, and looking forward to meeting you on your Leather Workshop.
It’s great to hear that all the pledges at the auction raised over £63,000 on the night and will directly fund the creation of sustainable micro-businesses in Kenya, so people can start to work their way out of poverty.
Do have a look at the Hand in Hand International website. to see the countries they're working in and their projects.
